I'm thinking that our niece is starting to share too much with my wife.


They've always been pretty close, but my wife was telling me about a recent text message exchange that seems at least naive, and maybe a bit disturbing.

"Alyssa" (not her real name) got a fun job as a lifeguard on the Outer Banks for the summer. It's fairly close to grandparents and allows her a fair amount of time to enjoy the summer in a beautiful place after the stress of her 2nd year at VT.

Last week she started chatting up a middle aged guy because he was wearing a VT hat. He must have made quite an impression, as she was GUSHING about him in the texts later that day.

"He gave me his card!!! Said I could be an intern!"
"He owns an internet media company. That must mean he's rich!"
"We talked for a long time. I think there was a real spark there!"

And so on. So now she's convinced that she can use the internship to seduce this guy and make him her sugar daddy and never have to work for the rest of her life. I'm actually kinda feeling sorry for the guy. Maybe he was secretly hitting on her, maybe not....but I'm not sure if he really knows what he's gotten himself into. And as for our niece, well, I'd hope that she'd aim higher than "finding a sugar daddy".
